Periodontology

Treatment of peri-implantitis and bone defects

CabinetWhite Parodontologie 2

What is periodontology ?

Periodontology is a specialised branch of dentistry that focuses on the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases affecting the gums, tooth-supporting tissues and alveolar bones.

These conditions, known as periodontal disease, can lead to serious consequences, such as bone loss, loosening of teeth or failure of dental implants. At White, we offer advanced solutions to effectively treat periodontal disease and maintain oral health. Our care includes surgical treatment of bone and soft tissue defects, treatment of peri-implantitis and treatment of infections around dental implants.

We also use innovative techniques such as the application of hyaluronic acid, a treatment known to stimulate soft tissue regeneration and promote optimal healing. This approach helps to strengthen the gums and prevent recurrence, while improving comfort and aesthetic results.

Other innovative approaches include laser therapy, PERISOLV® treatment and Biofine Therapy®, for precise, non-invasive and comfortable procedures.

Surgical periodontal treatment

Surgical periodontal treatment aims to correct bone defects and remove infected tissue to stabilise tooth structure. This procedure reduces deep periodontal pockets and restores harmonious bone architecture, making it easier to control plaque and prevent the progression of periodontal disease.

Laser therapy

Laser therapy in periodontology is a precise, minimally invasive method for decontaminating periodontal pockets and promoting tissue regeneration. The use of lasers makes it possible to selectively eliminate infected granulation tissue and decontaminate root surfaces, while stimulating healing and reducing post-operative inflammation.

Perisolv® and Biofine Thérapie® treatments

Innovative treatments such as PERISOLV® and Biofine Thérapie® offer new approaches to combating periodontal infections and stimulating healing. PERISOLV® is a diluted sodium hypochlorite-based gel designed to eliminate the bacterial biofilm present in periodontitis, mucositis and peri-implant infections.

When should you seek help ?

Periodontal disease often develops without significant pain, but certain signs should not be ignored :

  • Red, swollen or bleeding gums
    When brushing or flossing
  • Bad breath
A persistent, unpleasant taste in the mouth
  • Gum recession
    Teeth that appear longer
  • Inflammation around dental implants
    May indicate peri-implantitis

Treating periodontal disease

is essential for :

Preserving oral health

Prevent tooth loss and limit damage to supporting tissues.

Maintaining the stability of dental implants

Peri-implant infections can compromise the results of implantology.

Improving aesthetics

Good gum health promotes a more harmonious, natural-looking smile.

Preventing general complications

Studies show a link between periodontal disease and systemic pathologies such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease.

Reduce the discomfort associated with chronic inflammation

Regaining healthy gums improves quality of life and self-confidence.

How does it work ?

2.

Treatment plan

A personalised plan is devised based on the severity of the disease and your specific needs, including surgical or non-invasive treatments.

3.

Initial phase - Disinfection

Deep cleaning (root planing) is carried out to remove plaque and tartar from under the gums. Laser can be used to decontaminate pockets.

5.

Follow-up and maintenance

Regular visits enable results to be monitored, treatments to be adjusted and recurrences to be prevented.

4.

Surgical intervention (if necessary)

Bone defects or severely infected tissue are corrected using bone regeneration techniques or a graft.

1.

Consultation and diagnosis

An initial consultation, including a clinical examination, X-rays and measurement of the periodontal pockets, will enable us to accurately diagnose the condition of your gums and bone tissue.

did you know ?

Are periodontal treatments painful ?

Thanks to modern technologies such as lasers and non-invasive methods (Biofine Thérapie®), periodontal treatments are generally well tolerated. The use of gentle techniques and local anaesthetic ensure optimum comfort during and after the procedure. Painkillers can be prescribed if necessary to manage any discomfort.

What is peri-implantitis and how is it treated ?

Peri-implantitis is an infection that develops around a dental implant, affecting the surrounding soft tissue and bone. It can lead to bone loss and compromise implant stability. Treatment involves thorough cleaning, often aided by innovative solutions such as PERISOLV® or laser, and sometimes surgery to restore the affected tissue.

How does laser therapy for gums work ?

The laser is used to decontaminate periodontal pockets by eliminating pathogenic bacteria and infected tissue. This technology also stimulates natural tissue regeneration, reducing inflammation and promoting rapid healing. It is non-invasive, minimises bleeding and reduces post-operative pain compared with traditional treatments.

How common is periodontal disease?

Yes, they are one of the most common oral diseases, affecting almost 50% of adults. Often neglected in their early stages, these diseases can develop into serious complications if they are not treated in time. Early consultation is essential to prevent irreversible damage.
